Through my work as a baseball celebrity, I have been asked to participate in thousands of charitable events. Although most are worthy causes, my time is limited and I can only attend a events per year which offers only limited results. To better able myself to maximize my charitable endeavors, my wife, Nita and I founded the Harmon Killebrew Foundation in 1998 to allow us to help charities raise funds.
As a 501(c)3 charity, the sole purpose of the Harmon Killebrew Foundation is to serve as a host for fundraising events that benefit other charitable organizations. The net proceeds of the funds raised are given to the recipient charities. Up to 20 % is retained for administrative and event start up costs.
The Harmon Killebrew Foundation's Motto is "Help you Help Others." We feel this is truly our mission in life. My mother used to say, "we're here to help others, so get with it, Son." Our Foundation aims to do just that - helping you to help others through your participation in our hosted events.
